The MBA
Maharashtra Common Entrance Test is one among the many entrance tests that are
held to ascertain the admission in a Business School in Maharashtra. After a degree course in Health Sciences,
Engineering or Pharmacy, a student can opt for an MBA in his chosen field. The criteria for eligibility is that a
student should have secured a minimum of 50% from any certified university or a
CGPA. There is a relaxation for the
students belonging to Other Backward Classes [OBC]; they can apply if they have
secured 45% marks in their graduation course.
It is conducted
annually by the Directorate of Technical Education. This test is usually taken in the month of
March. The Directorate maintains and
enhances the quality of technical education by formulating policies from time
to time. Its policies are made in
consultation with the industries and national institutions. It contributes to the development of industry
and society.
A student who
clears the CET is eligible to get an admission in one of the 80 institutions in
Maharashtra that are approved by the AICTE, New Delhi. These colleges that offer the MBA program may
be government aided, university managed or unaided institutions.
The MBA MH-CET
is a pre-requisite to get an admission in the desired MBA course. The application form is available
online. A student fills the application
form on the site www.dte.org.in/mba. He / she must upload the photograph and
signature. A unique application ID and a
password are allotted to each candidate.
This is used to find out the result and to follow up on any other
notification regarding the examination.
The application form costs Rs. 1,150/- for the general category and is
Rs. 950/- for the reserved category.
Applications
that are sent through Post / Courier are not accepted. No other documents are to be sent at the time
of application. The documents are to be
produced only at the time of verification so they are to be kept ready but not
sent to the DTE.
The paper
consists of 200 questions. The candidate
is given 150 minutes to solve the paper.
The total marks are 200 and the students can be rest assured that there
is no negative marking. There are no
sections either. It consists of
questions to test the quantitative ability, verbal ability, reasoning and data
interpretation or sufficiency. The
result is declared within a month i.e. usually in April. 85% of the seats are reserved for the
students from the state of Maharashtra and 15% are for students from other
parts of the country or abroad. The exam is conducted at given centers; the
venue is informed on the hall ticket that is given at the time of application
along with other details.
After the result
of the CET is declared, group discussions and personal interviews are organized
that are comprised of 17 marks respectively.
The past academic record carry 4 marks and 2 marks are allotted for the
past work experience. Thus the result is
worked out of 240 marks. A student is
evaluated on all these sections and then the admission for an MBA course is
confirmed.
A student is
confirmed based on his merit in the examination through the three CAP rounds.
